Mini Notebook Computers

The latest in convenience and mobility are the mini notebook computers. In this information age that is so dependent on the Internet, people need to be able to work anywhere.  This makes mobility a major issue in computer products. Laptops used to serve this purpose until consumers got tired of lugging around a suitcase just for their laptops.  This led to the development of laptop notebooks.

Laptops are still popular but they are becoming the new home computer.  As laptops have gotten smaller and lighter their programs have become more compact too.  This enables them to use less memory space and less physical space.  By compacting the laptop’s functions and use of space, a product that is useful and highly portable has been created that is called a notebook. An even smaller product is the mini notebook computer.

The best thing about mini notebook computers is their size.  They are 10 inches by 7 inches and only weigh a couple of pounds.  In other words, they are about the same as carrying a regular spiral bound notebook full of papers and supplies but without the clutter.

So, if mini notebook computers are thought of as digital spiral bound notebooks their benefits and limitations quickly become apparent. Mobility is the greatest benefit.  Every busy person needs to be able to write things down and keep details organized.  Loose paper tends to get muddled.  It is so easy to have information literally at your fingertips by digitizing note taking, schedules and lists and still have full Internet access.

A person using a mini notebook computer will soon discover the major limitation if they expect to get the same functionality as a full size personal computer. Mini notebook computers are designed for mobile Internet connections and the use of programs such as word and excel but they are not designed for large file storage and fast gaming experiences.

People who should buy laptop notebook systems are people who do a lot of writing in many different places.  Real estate agents, students and writers will love the mobility of laptop notebooks for note taking, list making, keeping up with schedules and just general writing.  A laptop notebook is more functional than a PDA but with out the processing and memory capacity of a main computer system.

There are ways to get around some of this.  Microsoft has a free program called FolderShare that allows a user’s main computer and portable computer to share files as long as they are both connected to the Internet.  Make use of external storage options like flash drives and consider using Windows XP to conserve memory.

Before purchasing, a consumer could rent a laptop to see if it is something they could benefit from.  They are carried in many rent to own places. Most mini notebook computers will cost between $200 to $500 dollars.  A mini notebook computer might be just the right product at just the right price.
